- Taking Xeloda® with blood thinner medicines can be dangerous due to drug interactions. Your doctor should do blood tests often during treatment, and adjust the blood thinner medicine dosage if needed
- You should not be treated with Xeloda® if you have severe kidney problems
- Xeloda® can cause heart problems. Call your doctor right away if you develop unusual heart, chest issues, or feel faint, or get swollen ankles or legs
- Tell your doctor right away if you develop skin blisters, rash or peeling as Xeloda® can cause serious skin reactions that may be fatal
- Diarrhea is a common side effect and can sometimes be severe. Call your doctor right away or go to the emergency room if you have bloody diarrhea with severe abdominal pain and fever
- Your doctor should do blood tests during treatment to check your blood cell counts, and bilirubin level
- Xeloda® can cause harm to unborn babies, patients should not get pregnant or breast feed while taking it
- It is not known if Xeloda® is safe and effective in children
